SA v NZ – Botha’s Yellow Card
Any readers think Bakkies Botha’s YC was a tad harsh yersterday? Looks innocent enough to me – and certainly didnt make a tackle in an offside position as Nigel Owens suggested. Was it the other second row?
Also the NZ YC seemed harsh. Maybe it was out (was looking after Refblog Jnr watching repeat this morning so wasnt fully concentrating). Thoughts?
Apart from those two incidents, looked lilke another solid game to me. I do like his style (if not his wristbands!)
The Quins saga
Sorry this is delayed, been on hols and wifi seems not to have reached the tourist cafes of North Wales.
Anyway, Whenever there is a big trial on the news, they always show elements of the evidence once the charged has been found guilty. Or even during the trial like the Steven Gerard case this week.
I hope the ERC now release the footage I assume shows Tom Williams being given/using a blood capsule. For him to get a 12 month ban and the club to get a €250k fine demonstrates that a convincing case must have been provided to the panel. They just don’t give out judgements like that without proof – so come on ERC, let us all see!
Heineken Cup Final
Well, Im 38 mins in (on Sky+) and I cant say how much Nigel Owens has impressed me. OK, so there are a few things looking at his positioning, but he’s having an excellent game – in my humble opinion. Bang on with pens – the gimme’s he’s taken and the game is flowing really well. Spot on with the yellow card. No option. Early foul play pen to set the standard. Good stuff.
Leicester score. Where is Owens? Right there. Not bad for someone supposed to be overweight and slow around the park. I might have to see who is fitness advisers are!! 
Hope the 2nd half is as good!
UPDATED – it was. Still think he got it spot on. Too often, these big games turn out to be a big disappointment. Glad this one didn’t and we had a match official team adding value to the event. Good stuff!!
